"Prison Break" (400 word essay)

“Prison Break” is a show about brothers Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) who break out of prison and take down the most powerful corporation in the world.  In Season One Lincoln is sentenced to death row for a crime he did not commit.  He is said to have killed the vice president’s brother, but is being framed by The Company and is the victim of a government conspiracy.  Lincoln’s brother Michael, a brilliant structural engineer, formulates an escape plan to break his brother out of prison before his execution.  He knows the prison well and has the blue prints along with a plan tattooed on his body.  Michael gets himself arrested and thrown into the same prison as Lincoln.  With his knowledge of the building and his cultivated plan the two of them are to escape together.
In “Prison Break” the main focus of the brothers and their allies is justice and freedom.  To gain both of these they have to take down The Company, a secret group of multinationals known almost exclusively by those who work for them with the exception of those opposing them.  Its influence and power over individuals stretches to the White House, influencing every decision the country makes.  The main goal and purpose of The Company is to impose a New World Order for maintaining control over the country’s economy.  The Company has influence over everything that goes on in the United States and has influence over many agencies of the United States government, especially the Secret Service.  The Company does not care about the lives of innocent people and will do whatever it takes to maintain complete control over the economy.
Michael and Lincoln have to fight for their freedom and fight for justice.  In order to obtain their freedom and to achieve the justice they well deserve they have to take down The Company which is not any easy task.  With The Company being the most powerful corporation they have eyes and ears everywhere.  The Company will stop at nothing to take Michael and Lincoln down but in return the brothers will stop at nothing to destroy The Company.  By the end of Season Four the brothers final gain their freedom and justice is served.
While watching “Prison Break” you get emotionally attached to these characters.  You want Lincoln and Michael to obtain their freedom that they should have had all along.  You want justice to be served and for The Company to be taken down.  In the show one of the main taglines is “Freedom is an illusion. All that matter is staying alive.”  This is not the way life is supposed to be.  Freedom is not supposed to be an illusion; in America we are supposed to be free, however, the brothers cannot be free until The Company is stopped.  To do this they both have to stay alive and keep fighting for their freedom at all costs.  The last line in the show Michael says, “We are free now! Finally. We’re free!” This is such a powerful line; especially in the context he is saying it.  Their freedom did not come at an easy price but at last they obtained their freedom.
