I chose to do the art essay on freedom because to me being free is a privilege that we in America are lucky to have. I also chose to show freedom through the different elements of art because to me art if very important and is a great representation of expressing what you feel. In my power point I included a photo, a painting, a sculpture, a mixed media element and a drawing that all represent freedom. To me these five elements give a clear representation of freedom and also show what freedom means to me.
My first slide represents freedom of religion. The photo was taken by my sisters youth minister at a retreat they recently went on. I find the photo to be a perfect representation of freedom of religion with the three crosses and the youth group looking up at them. This photo to me shows that we are free to worship which I find to be one of our most important freedoms. From freedom of religion my next slide moves onto a painting called “Freedom Flight-Bald Eagle.” In this painting the eagle represents the spirit and strength of the American people. The flag is tattered in the fight we now face; the eagle is the strength we have to preserve. An eagle and the American flag are two of the most notable symbols in representing freedom so I thought this painting was a great representation of freedom.
My third slide is a sculpture of a bald eagle flying out of Lady Liberties torch. The sculpture is called “Freedom Fire” and is a bronze monument. The eagle is a huge representation of freedom in America and the torch is a symbol of enlightenment. The Statue of Liberty’s torch lights the way to freedom showing us the path to liberty. My fourth slide which is a mixed media element with an American flag in the background with the Liberty Bell, Martin Luther King Jr., a bald eagle and the words freedom placed on top of it. The Liberty Bell represents American freedom and liberty, Martin Luther King Jr. played a major role in gaining freedom for all and the bald eagle like I have stated before represents American freedom. My third and fourth slides have many elements that represent our freedom here in America. Without Martin Luther King Jr. where would we be today; he had such a powerful impact on all. The Liberty Bell when seen reminds us of the freedom we have obtained.
My final slide is a portrait of a soldier kneeling in front of the American flag. This picture was drawn in honor of Memorial Day. It shows the sacrifice soldiers make for their country so that we can all be free and keep our freedom. If it was not for all the soldiers out there we probably would not have the freedoms we have today. I thought this picture represents freedom well and also it honors all the soldiers out there fighting for our county and fight for our freedom.
